We Hear: 26 July 2012

by Connor Keller

First in this edition of We Hear is a track from Theophilus London’s full-EP debut, Times Are Weird These Days. The song is called “One Last Time” – I like the production behind it and of course the mention of dropping everything and moving over to Stockholm strikes a serious chord in me. Second  is “Girls Like You” from the Naked and Famous, an enjoyable New Zealand electropop act whom I sadly seem to keep missing each time they’re in Vancouver, but do enjoy a great deal. Thirdly is an older song from all around musical legends Radiohead. The particular song is a “Fake Plastic Trees” – one of the singles from The Bends and one I like not just for its musicality but also for its message. Lastly is the deeply sad and longing “For Emma” from Bon Iver’s debut album, For Emma, Forever Ago – this particular version is an impromptu live a cappella take on it from before a concert in Paris.
